  • Open TextBooks Library  - access to the open source library of free, peer-reviewed, and licensed textbooks.
  • Pressbooks directory  - is a free, searchable catalog of Pressbooks that contains information on 5,937 publicly available books published by 162 organizations and networks through Pressbooks.
  • TU Delft Open Textbooksy  -  is a platform that contains freely accessible textbooks produced by TU Delft teachers and used in bachelor and master courses at TU Delft.
  • Wikibooks - is a collection of open-content textbooks.Wikibooks is for textbooks, annotated texts, instructional guides, and manuals. These materials can be used in a traditional classroom, an accredited or respected institution, a home-school environment, as part of a Wikiversity course, or for self-learning. As a general rule, only instructional books are suitable for inclusion.
  • Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB)  - DOAB indexes and provides access to scientific, peer-reviewed open access books and helps users find reliable publishers of open access books. All DOAB services are free and all data are freely available.
  • B.C. Open Collection  - is an organized collection of OER that can be accessed by educators in British Columbia and beyond for use in the classroom or on other teaching and learning platforms. The collection includes courses and textbooks, and new resources are being added all the time.
  • LibreTexts (Free the textbook) -  is the adaptable, user-friendly open education resource platform that educators trust for creating, customizing, and sharing accessible, interactive textbooks, adaptive homework, and ancillary materials.
  • Open Research Library (ORL)  - This module (on the Open Research Library  platform) boasts a variety of high quality open educational resources. Each and every title can be downloaded and printed for use offline, as well as unlimited, multiuser access on the Open Research Library platform. With hundreds of texts by leading experts in the field—as well as a selection of informative Khan Academy videos—this module is perfect for inquisitive students, researchers, professors, and beyond. Subjects include science, business, technology, art, humanities, mathematics, and beyond.
  • Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)  - Today, this independent database contains over 16 500 peer-reviewed open access journals covering all areas of science, technology, medicine, social sciences, arts and humanities. Open access journals from all countries and in all languages are welcome to apply for inclusion.
  • Open Stax Connexions  - is a dynamic non-profit digital ecosystem. OpenStax publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed, openly licensed textbooks that are absolutely free online and low cost in print.

Search engines:

  • OASIS - Openly Available Sources Integrated Search (OASIS) is a search tool that aims to make the discovery of open content easier. OASIS currently searches open content from 115 different sources and contains 455,492  records.
  • OERSI (Open Educational Resources Search Index)  - a search index for Open Educational Resources in higher education.
  • The Mason OER Metafinder - OER Metafinder simultaneously searches 23 different sources of open educational materials. The search is conducted in well-known repositories such as OpenStax, OER Commons, MERLOT, as well as on sites such as HathiTrust, DPLA, Internet Archive, and NYPL Digital Collections, where valuable but often overlooked open educational materials can be found.
  • BASE (Bielefeld Academic Search Engine) - is one of the world's most voluminous search engines especially for academic web resources. BASE provides more than 240 million documents from more than 8,000 content providers. You can access the full texts of about 60% of the indexed documents for free (Open Access). BASE is operated by Bielefeld University Library.

  • Wikimedia Commons - is a media file repository making available public domain and freely licensed educational media content (images, sound and video clips) to everyone, in their own language.
  • TIB AV-PORTAL  - is a portal for scientific videos with a focus on technology/engineering as well as architecture, chemistry, computer science, mathematics and physics. Other scientific disciplines are also included in the AV-Portal. The videos include among others computer visualisations, learning material, simulations, experiments, interviews, video abstracts, lecture and conference recordings, and (open) audiovisual learning and teaching materials.
  • Search Creative Commons - search portal from Creative Commons (search for images, audio, video, 3D models, web pages).
  • Image repositories - Torange, Flickr.
  • Repository of vector images, illustrations, photos, videos, audio, audio effects - Freepik, Pixabay, Free Images.
  • Pexels - photo and video storage.
  • Legal music for videos - list of sites that offer music published under CC licenses.
  • Youtube Studio - YouTube music library.
  • Freesound - storage of various sounds, sound effects, audio recordings.
  • Music platforms - Free Music Archive, CC Mixter, Sound Cloud.
  • YouTube - enter a search term and then use the filters to find Creative Commons licensed video.

  • Merlot  - is an online repository and international consortium of institutions (and systems) of higher education, industry partners, professional organizations and individuals.
  • Teaching Commons - The Teaching Commons showcases high-quality open educational resources from leading colleges and universities and makes them available to educators and students around the world. The Teaching Commons includes open-access textbooks, course materials, lesson plans, multimedia, lectures, and more. Educators and researchers can use the Teaching Commons to discover teaching materials, adopt content for their courses, or create and share their own work.
